Adinkra?
アディンクラとは？

 Originating with the Asante people in Africa, the Adinkra cloth is a hand-made fabric that is printed from a block-printing technique. The blocks are carved from gourds and calabashes and are used to transfer Adinkra symbols on to the material.
There are hundreds of Adinkra symbols in West Africa that derive their names from the Twi dialect. These powerful symbols reflect a system of human values that are universal such as, family, integrity, harmony, and love. Several of the Adinkra designs are linked to proverbs and folk stories that have played a significant part in furthering the organization of social and political life in the Akan society.
 The colors and symbols used relate to beliefs, attitudes and moral issues about the self and one's responsibility, knowledge and education.
アディンクラ布は、ガーナのアシャンテ州でうまれた型押し技法によって模様を施した布です。型はひょうたんやひょうたんのきから作られ、その文様をアディンクラシンボルといいます。
西アフリカのアディンクラシンボルは何百種もあり、そのひとつひとつが意味とトウィ語の名前を持ちます。アディンクラシンボルは、家族や誠実、調和、愛情など普遍的な人間の価値をあらわす他、格言や民話からイメージされたものをあらわしたものもあります。
アディンクラ布に使われる色とシンボルは、信仰や個人の考え方、道徳観、責任、知識や素養などによって違います。

エイカンにて特に崇拝されているシンボル。「賢明な人物は、ゴールにたどり着くために最善の手段を選ぶ知的能力を持つ」という考え方を伝えるシンボル。賢明であるということは、広い知識や学習力、経験、現実的な目標を達成するための能力を持つということを示す。
