この医薬品はアメリカでは購入に際し、専門医師の診断を受けて発行された処方せんが必要とされる"処方せん薬"（日本では要指示薬とも呼ばれます）です。

この医薬品の有効成分は、100Mcgプロゲスティン、レボノルゲストレル、20Mcgエストロゲン、エチニル・エストラジオールです。他の多くのピルにはエストロゲンが30〜35Mcg含まれていますが、アレッセには20Mcgしか含まれていません。（35Mcg配合のピルと比較すると43％も少ない率です）　しかしながら、その効果は他のブランドのものと変わりません。正しく服用すれば99％効果的に避妊することができます。

それぞれのパックにはピンク色の活性錠21錠と、緑色の非活性錠7錠がはいっています。このようなスタイルの避妊ピルは飲み忘れの率が1.0％と低くなり、有効であるとされています。

注意：　脳血管や冠動脈の疾患の経験がある女性は経口避妊薬を服用してはいけません。

経口避妊薬の服用に関しては、服用による危険性について理解した上で服用するようにして下さい。 以下FAQを参照下さい。

Alesse28 : Birth Control Pills

This drug was approved by the FDA in May 1982.The Manufacturer of Alesse is Wyeth-Ayerst. 

The active ingredients in this pill are 100 mcg of the progestin, levonorgestrel and 20 mcg of the estrogen, ethinyl estradiol. Many other brands of the pill contain 30 to 35 mcg of estrogen. Alesse has 20 mcg of estrogen (43 percent less estrogen than the 35 mcg pills) but is just as effective as the higher dose brands. AlesseÃ?Â?Ã?Â?Ã?Â?Ã?® is 99 percent effective in preventing pregnancy when used as directed. Each pak contains 21 pink active tablets and 7 green inactive tablets. This method of birth control is highly effective since the failure rate is about 1.0%. 

Note: Oral contraceptives should not be used by women who have a past history of Cerebrovascular or coronary artery disease. 

Any woman considering the use of oral contraception should understand that there are risks associated with the usage of the product. For further information concerning this product, please click on the FAQ below. 

Directions: Alesse 28 Tablets are to be taken in the following manner: Remember 1 tablet must be taken each day for 28 straight days. If you forget to take a pill take two the next day. It is recommended that the tablets be taken at the same time every day.

1. What are the ingredients of this product? --- Cellulose, iron oxide, lactose, magnesium stearate, polacrilin, potassium, polyethylene glycol, titanium dioxide, and hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, in addition to the main products of levonorgestrol and ethinyl estradiol.

2. Does this type of contraception protect against HIV infections(AIDS) and other sexually transmitted diseases? --- Absolutely not, This product is only for the prevention of pregnancy.

3. What are the risks with using this product? --- With almost every oral birth control tablet the possibility exists for the following conditions: Myocardial Infarction, Thromboembolism, Stroke, Hepatic Neoplasia, Gallbladder Disease, and Arid Hypertension.

4. What are the side effects involved with this product? --- Oral contraceptives may cause the following conditions to occur especially within the first three weeks of starting the medication: Fluid Retention, Nausea, Vomiting, Gastrointestinal Symptoms, Changes in Menstrual Flow, Changes in Weight, Headaches, Nervousness, Depression, and other minor problems.

5. What can happen if too many Alesse tablets are taken? --- The side effects are not serious. mainly nausea and vomiting.

6. How long should a woman use this product? --- It is highly recommended that a person not use the same oral contraceptives for periods of more than a year without switching to another brand. Always consult your doctor regarding prolonged usage and switching brand medication.
