Jean Patou fragrances represent elegance, boldness, and seduction.
Only a few paces from the Place de la Concorde, at 7 rue Saint-Florentin,
lies an eighteenth-century mansion. This beautiful home with a pure
Art Deco interior is where Jean Patou created perfumes and other
fragrance forms that make women alluring all over the world.
In addition to beautiful fragrances, Jean Patou revolutionized fashion
by inventing sportswear and designing the first cardigan sweater in
the 1920's. Patou also created the first tennis skirt and the first
knit bathing suits. Jean Patou was also the first couturier to use his
initials as a stylistic motif on his apparel.
Though the 1929 stock market crash bankrupted many Jean Patou clients,
Jean Patou created the Joy fragrance, to chase away the Depression
blues. This lavish scent combines extremely rare flower varieties in
an outstanding concentration. Over 10,000 jasmine flowers and 300 or
more May roses are used to make a single ounce of perfume. This
luxuriousness blend of flowers has earned Joy the reputation of
"the costliest perfume in the world". The original bottle
was designed in 1930 by Louis Sue. In the 1930's the design house of
Jean Patou launched the JOY fragrance. This classic scent is
considered a refined, flowery fragrance, possessing a blend of rare
oils jasmine and rose. Joy is recommended for evening wear, but of
course it can be worn for all special occasions.
Directions: Apply this fragrance to arms, legs, neck, and hair
for a long lasting experience.
